94th Annual Show & Sale at Exeter

The 94th Annual Show & Sale on Friday 18th August 2017 at Exeter Livestock Market saw a good trade with 64% clearance of rams and 100% clearance of ewes. Once again the rams met a selective trade. The top price of 600 guineas was for a Mudd’le Ram bred by Mrs E Dawson, Shropshire, selling to Mrs S James, Hazelwood flock. Another good price on the day was Lot 26, a Springfield ram bred by Mr & Mrs S Bullock, Cheshire selling at 520 guineas to new breeders, C Penington, Shropshire. This ram had won the woolled ram class. The Champion ram was a West Lapford ram bred by Mr & Mrs A Epstein, he went on to sell for 420 guineas to Mrs Rickson, Sunnyside flock. Mr & Mrs D Martin, Palace flock sold one of their rams to R T Alford & J Rogers, Cardwell flock, for 500 guineas. Average ram price 161guineas

The females met a good trade with 100% clearance. The top price was for a pair of ewes bred by Mr & Mrs Epstein, West Lapford flock, fetching 550 guineas each, going to Mrs M Heard, Okehampton. The first prize pen of ewes were bred by Mr & Mrs J Gatrill, Vespasian flock and fetched 200 guineas each, selling to R Stevens, Petrockstow. Average female price was 205 guineas.
